JINAN, SHANDONG – October 13, 2025 – a global innovator in UHD video technology, today announced that its new flagship product - THEIA R2 Multi-Channel 4K/UHD Recorder & Player, now has secured official certification as an Apple ProRes-authorized device.

Engineered to integrate seamlessly into professional ProRes workflows, THEIA R2 delivers maximum reliability and operational flexibility, setting a new standard for multi-channel UHD content management. Looking ahead, NxVi has additionally disclosed a major roadmap update, confirming that THEIA R2 will be enabled to support 8-channel ProRes, 4-channel XAVC, and the ST 2110 protocol in Q4 2025.

A high quality visual lossless video compression technology developed by Apple Inc. for post-production processing, ProRes codec is globally adopted in media industries as intermediate format for video editing. ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT, and ProRes 422 proxy profiles offer different bitrates and qualities in workflow. THEIA R2 supports these ProRes profiles in UHD recording and playback with multi-channel input and output through various type of storage interface at local and in remote with redundancy.

THEIA R2 supports multiple 12G-SDI input and output ports, HDMI input and output ports for video source, preview, playback, and passthrough. The H.264 based proxy in 1080 resolution can also be activated simultaneously when ProRes codec recording is in progress to facilitate operation of editing tools later. The configurable operation modes in THEIA R2 provide flexible setting for 4ch record, 4ch playback, or 2ch record + 2ch playback.

THEIA R2 offers selectable and redundant storage record including SATA SSD, SFP+ 10Gbps NAS, and USB-C ports with cross-disk, auto-segmentation, SSD + SSD, SSD + NAS, SSD + USB-C features. The segmented protection and fail-safe recording are supported in THEIA R2 with redundant dual power supplies for uninterrupted operation.

The integrated 8ch of analog and digital AES audio input and output ports can be selected for audio monitoring together with audio sources from SDI and HDMI in THEIA R2.

A 5.5” AMOLED touch panel, control buttons, shuttle, and USB device ports in THEIA R2 provides signal preview and local device management with network-based web graphic user interface for remote control. Multi-device monitoring and synchronization through RS422 and GPIO ports with VDCP and Sony protocol are also supported in THEIA R2. Liner Timecode (LTC) input and output for timing recording and tri-level reference input and output for device synchronization are available in THEIA R2.
